6 things to look forward to in Dubai in 2021

The year 2021 will see Dubai’s ever expanding landscape getting even better! Some of the things to look forward to in 2021 include Expo 2020, The Museum of the Future, The Dubai Eye, Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, Madame Tussauds, and Global Village.

Larger than life, surreal, glamorous, progressive – Dubai is all this and more. Where else will you find museum that lets you peek into the future and a library inside a unique building shaped like a book!

After the turbulent year we all have had, 2021 ushered in hope and optimism. This year will see Dubai’s ever expanding landscape getting even better. Here are some of the things we are most excited about…

Expo 2020: Touted as “The World’s Greatest Show’, Expo 2020 was scheduled to be held last year, but had to be postponed due to the global pandemic. It will now begin on October 1, 2021 and run until March 31, 2022. It will exhibit 190 countries showcasing their vision and plans for the future through uniquely designed pavilions. The three themes that the Expo will focus on will be using technology to champion sustainability, driving mobility to transform the way we live and unleashing potential to create opportunity.

The Museum of the Future: Imagine a place where we can see and shape our shared future; a place of tolerance where people of all cultures, social standing and spiritual outlooks are welcome to find solutions for a better tomorrow. This is exactly what the Museum of the Future will offer via a plethora of exhibitions, immersive theatre and themed attractions. Staying true to the concept, the museum structure has a futuristic, cutting-edge design shaped like an eye and is covered in Arabic calligraphy.

The Dubai Eye: Just like London and Singapore, Dubai is set to get its very own Ain Dubai or Dubai Eye, only it will be bigger and better. The observation wheel will be the largest in the world at a staggering 250 metres. It will be able to carry 1900 people at any given time, offering a 360 degree view of the fabulous city.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Library: The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is an architectural masterpiece. This one-of-a-kind structure is designed to look like an open book placed on a traditional lectern. The library will be as functional as it is stunning. Its seven stories will house an impressive 4.5 million books on every topic under the sun, as well as a 500 seater theatre.

Madame Tussauds: This prestigious museum currently in cities such as London, New York, Sydney, Vienna, Amsterdam, etc. will soon call Dubai its new home. Launch of the Dubai location has been in the works for some time now, and is slated to open in 2021. It will display life-size wax replicas of royalty, celebrities, politicians, sports players, and more. Did you know that each wax portrait takes six months, more than 250 precise measurements and photographs and US$45000 to make? Now that is something to watch out for!

Global Village: The world is a global village and this attraction showcases it the best. Global Village is an entertainment and shopping extravaganza that is held in the cooler months. You can partake in it from October, 2021 to April, 2022. It is a sight to behold with more than 25 countries displaying their handicrafts and other merchandise. Here you can shop till you drop, experience foods from different cultures, play games, see shows, and more.
